Project 2: Illustrator Assignment Theme: The opinionated self
Due date: Beginning of class - March 14th
No matter how passive an individual may be, somewhere in the persons psyche lays a set of opinions. These opinions develop throughout a person’s life, often times permeating into and solidifying a personality. Opinions are made up of truths and/or beliefs. Opinions based on beliefs will often times be more reckless and dangerous.
Scour the internet for current events and write down your opinions. Look at these written opinions and attempt to validate them outside of yourself.
Pick one of your written opinions and create an illustration using Adobe Illustrator.
We will generate a poster from this illustration.
Why a poster??
Posters are successful tools for spreading propaganda. In our current age, poster design has been adapted into billboards, murals, digital logos, website banners and social media recommendations, carrying messages that are a hyper attentive combination of text and imagery ie: Barack Obama’s HOPE campaign, Sheperd Fairey’s OBEY work, the pink Human Right’s Campaign logo for LGBT equal rights, Donald Trump’s “Make America Great Again” hat.
Project specifications:
1. Create a file that is a MINIMUM of 10 inches in height and 8 inches in width. It is preferred that you work larger. You do not have to use the same width and height.
2. Your working minimum DPI should be 150 DPI (under advanced).
3. Explore and use Illustrator to your advantage. Utilize the different shapes, shape manipulation, text, stroke and fill. *you do not need to use all mentioned.. I am just listing them as examples.
4. Final document must be printed and ready to display on the storefront of the 4Most Gallery.
5. Name file <yourname>.ai
